THE GROWING SHELTER

The initial Urban Ecology Prototype was adapted to the site for the International Architectural Festival.
Date: 1st week of July 2010

Day 1: 4th June 2010 Recognition of the site, Southwark - London

Mateo Peschiera, Veronica Hendry, Dimitra Kyrkou, Mehrdad Borna and me, Cristina Blanco, taking measurements to adapt the prototype.

Mateo Peschiera, Mehrdad Borna, Paschal Volney and Fanny Galvan were in charge of getting the materials: Pallets from Borough Market and Carpet Tubes from Dalston Square.

Day 2: 11th June 2010 Building the prototype at UEL

The build team: Mateo Peschiera, Melania Panagiotidi, Ioannou Stravula (Roi), Veronica Hendry, Timoclea Benopoulou (Clelia), Paschal Volney and me, Cristina Blanco.
Fun and exhausting day, but we did it!!!!. We achieved to stand up the structure and define the pallets base.

Day 3: 19th June 2010. The planters

Today the team was: Mehrdad Borna, Tugba Salman, Ioannou Stravula (Roi), Veronica Hendry and me, Cristina Blanco.

Good progress. We were reviewing the location of the planters and we decided locate them behind the existing chairs (There were too heavy) and connect them through strings to the main structure.
Regarding the large climbers, we'll plant them in the spaces in between the pallets.
We built 2 planters.

Day 4: 24th June 2010 - testing the shelter at UEL

We built up the structure for our annual exhibition at UEL. It was awesome, we tested it and it works!!!!
